Witnessing his family navigate this hardship inspired Dyer to pursue a career dedicated to helping others bring structure to their financial lives. Ignited by this transformative experience, Dyer pursued a double major in economics and psychology, laying the foundation for a career focused on guiding others through life’s financial complexities.
Early in his career, he spent seven years working alongside industry veterans in the New York City area, immersing himself in the field and honing the skills necessary to provide expert guidance. This time also revealed opportunities to elevate the client experience—to prioritize clients’ needs while establishing and upholding uncompromising standards. These lessons became the foundation for his vision to build a company where excellence and delivering a client-first approach, grounded in trust and integrity, are foundational principles.
In 2011, Dyer founded Kilter Group. Drawing on years of in-depth industry training and a profound understanding of the challenges clients face, Dyer created a firm that raised the bar in the industry, setting new standards for prioritizing clients and delivering exceptional results. Beyond the Office
Dyer lives in the Hudson Valley with his wife, Jessica, who has been a constant source of inspiration and support. Together, they share their home with their daughter and two dogs, a Whippet named Perry and a mixed-breed rescue named Audrey, as well as an Irish Sport horse named Chester.
Rowing has played a significant role in Dyer’s life, shaping his mindset and approach to challenges. While at Rutgers University, he served as the co-captain of the men’s lightweight team, demonstrating focus on leadership and fostering a culture of collaboration and resilience. Later, as a member of the Vesper Boat Club in Philadelphia, he competed in the men’s lightweight senior eight at the Canadian Henley Regatta, achieving a prestigious victory. Rowing taught Dyer the value of perseverance, discipline, and teamwork, particularly during his time in the “engine room” of the boat—a position requiring immense physical strength and mental fortitude.
Today, he continues to row on the Hudson River, often in a one-man scull, finding inspiration and balance on the water. For the past several years, Dyer has kept his competitive spirit alive by competing in the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston.
Dyer also has a passion for photography, capturing landscapes, wildlife, and portraits. Beyond his hobbies, he is known for his grounded presence and genuine kindness, always willing to support and help those around him.
